Are you interested in woodworking but never attempted it before? Don’t let that stop you! You can always start with smaller projects. All you need is the basic woodworking tools.
What is good about these smaller projects is that you aren’t going to have to invest a lot of time and money into the project. In fact, if you have read the various posts on this site, you can see where you will be able to get the lumber for extremely cheap or free. So the costs won’t really be high.
With a smaller project, you don’t really have to have too many step by step instructions. Just look at a picture of something and build it if you have to. Or even just making something as you go. If it doesn’t turn out exactly as you wish, then that doesn’t mean it isn’t good results.
Take a look at the image above. It is a simple toybox. It just takes 4 sides, a lid and a bottom to it. You can screw it all together, nail it, or however you would like to fasten it. A simple box like this is the best way to start out. The lid doesn’t even have to have hinges if you aren’t ready for that, as long as you get it to fit on the top.
We have a variety of plans on WooDesigner that will help you along the way. If you haven’t picked up our free Woodworking plans from this site, make sure you do that as well! There are 5 easy projects that you can build, and they have step by step instructions. You can get the free ebook with the plans here on the website or go to
The free ebook is there as well. Don’t let woodworking intimidate you. It is fairly easy to start, and you can go into more complex work along the way.
DO YOU HAVE a woodworking project or tip that you would like to submit to WooDesigner and get it added to our site? Then go to the contact tab below OR at the top of this page and let me know. Just make sure you are able to give us step by step instructions on it, as well as images as you see here, and we will put it on this site just like you have read on this page! As long as it is clear and concise like you just saw, it will go up. Your name will be credited to the project, as where you live. (Please include that.) Also include the type of lumber you use for the design. We look forward to hearing from you! (Take note that the tip and images and instructions have to become ours. I do hate that so much but in today’s society so many will sue, and yes, you can sue for a lot of money over images.) The tips will need to include YOUR IMAGES that you take. They can’t be images from somewhere online. Remember, we have to go through these images and if they aren’t your own, we will not be able to use them. This is illegal and it won’t be tolerated and you will be banned from this community by being blocked. We can get sued for this, and just one bad apple can ruin our community.
